Legal Assistant
Our client has a vacancy for a Legal Assistant to join their Litigation team, part of the firm's Litigation & Dispute Resolution group. You will provide fee earning and administrative support to three Partners and their two assisting Solicitors to help deliver great service to our clients. You will support contentious and non-contentious work in the Agriculture team, as well as property and commercial litigation work. Your key duties will be: Fee earner duties include: • working on property transactions (including post-completion duties) • the collation of court bundles • arranging conferences with barristers • organising mediations • attending meetings • legal research Audio typing and administration duties include: • typing of correspondence and documents • financial administration • assisting with marketing • electronic document management • handling telephone calls, taking messages and dealing with queries and enquiries where appropriate • photocopying, scanning and collating documentation • daily filing • storage and retrieval of client files (electronic and paper versions) Skills and experience you will have: • 12 months' previous experience working in a law firm, ideally with experience of obtaining documents from the Land Registry and practical familiarity with solicitors' accounts. • a law degree (or equivalent) is desired • experience of using case management systems is desired • strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and ideally PowerPoint • fast and accurate keyboard skills Key competencies you will need: • good attention to detail and accuracy • excellent communication skills • ability to prioritise workload • enthusiasm, commitment and a team player approach the ability to work in a busy team Ideally candidates will have a legal qualification or 12 months relevant fee earning experience and be interested to pursue a career in the law.
