External Affairs Executive GBP47,000 - London Role Name External Affairs Executive Reporting To External Affairs Manager Direct Reports N/A Competency Level Executive Overall Job Purpose Promote and enhance the reputation of the Money Advice Service with key policymakers in Westminster and Whitehall and relevant EU institutions.Manage external stakeholder engagement with industry and customer groups through the development and delivery of the corporate stakeholder engagement strategy.This role is central to the Service's strategic influencing and the development of sustainable external relationships. Key Accountabilities Supporting the Head of Corporate Communications in the development and delivery of the corporate communications strategyDeveloping Money Advice Service positions and key messages on policy issues and opportunitiesLeading on the development and execution of the corporate stakeholder engagement strategy, communications programme and plansFacilitating the identification and prioritisation of stakeholders and other key opinion formersForging Money Advice Service relations with diverse stakeholders e.g. MPs, civil servants, consumer bodies, financial services firms, trade associations, legislators and regulators (in devolved nations, UK and Europe), partner organisations, industry commentators and other opinion formersSupporting others across the organisation to ensure quality and consistency of any external facing communications i.e. policy team internal briefingsEnsuring approaches and frameworks are in place and deployed effectively across the organisation to create and share knowledge in relation to stakeholders and key opinion formersDeveloping stakeholder messaging and channel management strategies that support our strategy and objectivesDeveloping and delivering stakeholder communications and engagement interventions i.e. external fora, stakeholder newsletters, corporate website etc.Creating and implementing communication campaign activity across stakeholder audiences using both on and off line channelsLeading on stakeholder event selection and management. Essential Requirements Comprehensive knowledge of the workings of Westminster, devolved Parliaments and EU institutionsExperience in communications activity with policymakers and civil servantsA strong knowledge of retail financial services markets, regulation and consumer issues and public policyStrong stakeholder management abilities, with expertise in influencing senior level stakeholdersExpertise in developing and delivering successful corporate engagement strategies and plansProven ability to deal effectively with high profile stakeholdersStrong networking and presentation, written and verbal communication skillsComprehensive project management skills and the ability to deliver projects within inter-departmental teamsExpertise in managing external suppliers and agenciesEvent management knowledge and experienceAbility to work in fast-paced environments with a strong customer focusExpertise in managing budget and demonstrating effective ROI
