Gem Partnership are proud to be working with a successful Logistics provider based in the heart of the north east Automotive sector. Due to continual success and growth there is now a requirement for a Maintenance Technician to join the team at the North East based operation. Reporting into the Facilities and Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for evaluation and repair to breakdowns whilst remaining focused on driving forward the sites quality standards. Responsibilities The maintenance technician should undertake the responsibility and preserve the good condition and functionality of the premises. This is a skill role and requires a practical mind and a high attention to detail. This role involves working autonomously and responsibly whilst ensuring a high standard of health and safety is maintained. They will be required to carry out any further tasks as deemed necessary by the senior management team. Survey buildings and repair mechanical and basic electrical systems to ensure they are consistent with Health and safety standardsPerform maintenance of electrical systems (replace light bulbs and sockets, test emergency lights. Check and replace circuit breakers if necessary and basic fault diagnosisAssist with set up and controls of sprinkler systems including weekly testingInspect alarm systems (fire protection and Intruder) also schedule repairs when neededUndertake racking repairs and examinationsGeneral repairs of barriers which may include welding and burning activitiesConduct general upkeep of procedures, including maintenance schedules & logsMaintenance of heating systems and basic plumbing repairsMonitor utility consumptions and record dataAssist in the control of contractors performing various site repairs and testing Skills and Qualifications required Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic and other systems Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methodsAbility to fabricate and repair welded structuresWorking knowledge of tools, common appliances and devicesAbility to work at heightAn understanding of health and safety regulationsThe ability to work to set deadlines, which can often be strictMust be self-motivated and an effective team playerMust be enthusiastic and committedExcellent interpersonal and communication skills
