This company is a world-leading SME who design and manufacture state-of-the-art robotic measuring instruments for use in such fields as biomedical research, optics, automotive and aerospace. They are seeking to expand their existing software team to meet the rapidly growing demands for their optical coordinate measuring machines and have a position for a Software Engineer to work in the area of hardware/software integration.

Who you are:
You can demonstrate a very strong background in mathematics, physics or engineering research and development, be experienced in the full software life-cycle (in C# and .NET) with a focus on algorithm development. You will have previously worked on integrated hardware/software solutions, ideally in the automation and robotics, or metrology industries.

Overall Responsibilities:
To work within a team of software engineers to produce high quality software solutions, many of which will interface to, and control, cutting-edge hardware systems.

Post Holder - Specific Responsibilities and Duties:
- Software design and development, primarily in C# and .NET.
- Interfacing with third-party hardware and software.
- Algorithm development for both data analysis and robotic control.
- Contributing to the full life-cycle of software development (from requirements gathering through to post-product development).

Primary Location of Post:
At the company address in Chandlers Ford (near Southampton). Please note that they are due to relocate to a larger facility within the Southampton area in 2017.

Occasional travel to customers' sites might be required. Destinations are likely to be, but not limited to, UK, Europe, USA.

Key Qualifications/Experience:
- At least 2 years' experience as a software engineer in a professional environment using C# (E).
- Experienced in 3-D visualisation, i.e. OpenGL or similar (HD)
- Strong academic background in computing, physics, mathematics or engineering (E).
- Fluent written and spoken English (E).
- Background or interest in robotics, automation, image processing, metrology, or similar (D).
