The jobholder will work as a member of a small design and development team on a range of projects for the company’s world-wide market.

The work will cover various stages of the product life cycle of primarily electronic products, from inception through development into manufacture and ongoing through-life support.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Construct prototype electronics systems.  This will include work at component/circuit board level, building cable assemblies and integrating PCBA’s/sub-systems into mechanical enclosures
  • Generate and implement test procedures to verify designs of circuit boards, software, sub-systems and complete systems (including electrical/electronic aspects, thermal performance, and electromagnetic emissions/susceptibility) 
  • Generate detailed reports on testing and evaluation tasks
  • Derive/develop manufacturing test requirements & procedures and support manufacturing partners during their initial implementation and ongoing use
  • Use a range of PC-based tools to support engineers throughout the design/development cycle   
  • Acquire skills in the use of new PC-based tools as required
  • Maintain and develop laboratory facilities
  • Arrange purchase of materials for prototype circuit boards and equipment
  • Undertake any other tasks reasonably required by the company

Education & Experience:


  • A relevant technical qualification (HND/Degree) or suitable combination of academic qualifications and relevant experience and skills
  • Ability to work as part of a small team with a flexible attitude
  • Aptitude for acquiring skills in use of a range of PC-based tools
  • Good practical skills
  • Thorough and methodical approach to work
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Competent in use of Microsoft Office (primarily Word & Excel)
  • Eligible for a UK Security Clearance


  • Experience in an electronic engineering  and/or product development environment
  • Familiarity with Analogue, Digital and RF circuits
  • Ability to assemble simple PCBA’s and carry out rework to more complex  prototype PCBA’s
  • Experience of test & verification evaluation of prototype electronic circuits and systems
  • Experience of programming/scripting in a test context
  • Knowledge of schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium preferred)
  • Knowledge of mechanical CAD (Solidworks preferred)
