Our client is one of the world’s largest manufacturers of glass and glazing products for the Architectural, Automotive and Technical Glass sectors.
With around 28,000 permanent employees, the Group has principal manufacturing operations in 30 countries and sales in over 130. With just over a third of their sales in Europe, around a third are in Japan and the rest are primarily in North and South America, South East Asia and China.
They are now looking to recruit a Software Engineer to join a team of software engineers in the Simulation & Software team which is part of the Shaping, Simulation & Inspection Technology Group at the European Technical Centre, Lathom.
Principally working on the development, roll-out and support of ‘Sequoia’, the group standard Manufacturing Information System, you may also be called upon to provide software support to other developments within the group. Some parts of the ‘Sequoia’ system such as automatic pack label printing and production reporting are business critical and relied upon daily by many of their plants.
To be successful in this role, candidates will ideally be qualified to first degree level in a relevant subject with strong software skills, some experience of application development within a Microsoft Windows environment, web technologies and database development & management using MS SQL Server. Knowledge of some or all of the following is required; ASP, ASP.Net, C#, IIS, WPF, .NET framework, HTML 5, CSS, JavaScript/ jQuery, Angular. Previous experience of working in a software team on complex software projects and a working knowledge of SAP would be advantageous.
The role is based at Lathom but will require a willingness to undertake some travel globally, normally for periods of between 1 and 4 weeks.
