Principal Design Engineer

Our client, a major provider of turnkey fabrication work for the power and process industries, are looking to appoint a Principal Design Engineer to lead their design team. The appointed Principal Design Engineer will be degree qualified in mechanical engineering or equivalent and currently be working at a senior level in a mechanical or process design environment. You will be responsible for your own workload whilst also reviewing the work of more junior colleagues. Excellent knowledge of fabrication is required. In return the client offers a highly competitive package and the opportunity to quickly progress your career.Principal Design Engineer - Role and Responsibilities - Mechanical Design Engineer- Providing engineering support for Proposals and Operations- Preparation of contract specific equipment specifications- Calculation of contract specific process and mechanical data- Prepare engineering design estimates and technical tender submissions- Checking of Contract specific drawings produced by more junior colleagues- On and off site liaison with end client and subcontractors/suppliers and scheduling of Engineering work- Development and utilisation of CAD and other IT systems within the Engineering DepartmentPrincipal Design Engineer - Skills and Abilities - Mechanical Design Engineer- Degree qualified as a minimum in mechanical engineering or equivalent- Currently operating at a Lead Engineer level in a Mechanical or Process design environment- Previous experience of supervising a design team- Excellent knowledge of fabrication for power / process industriesPrincipal Design Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer, Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication
