My client is looking for a Risk Management Consultant to join the UK team. You will be responsible for helping clients managing risk exposure more proactively. You will utilize your commercial expertise to assess the stakes of financial decisions for clients, increasing retention and renewal rates. This in turn will maximise fee income for the work undertaken by adding value to the client's organisation.

The role is home-based.

Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:
• Carry out risk management appraisals of business risk (health and safety, environmental and fleet) aspects of client's business in order to ascertain risk exposure
• Research all aspects of the client's business to reach a full understanding of all operational, regulatory and commercial risks, having regard for critical business processes and priorities.
• Make verbal and written proposals for changes to operating procedures in order to safeguard the clients' interests and reduce risk, having regard for the practical solutions, the need to add value to the clients' business and to produce income
• Write safety, environmental, fleet, and contingency plans, policies and procedures, management systems, training courses, and recording systems for clients, delivering short-term or long-term solutions in line with business priorities and client wishes
• Undertake specific surveys and site visits to research and record any hazardous processes or risks constituting liability (i.e. MD / BI, fire, security etc.)
• Write and make proposals to insurers on client's behalf to reach the best possible insurance solution for the client
• Maintain a high external and internal profile to maximise the opportunity for business winning and obtain business leads
• Transfer ownership of risk management solution to the client, by helping to implement the solution, the appropriate use of training, feedback, coaching, etc. in order to foster a long-term relationship with the client
• Internal interface deliverables:
• Risk Management Practice management - Regular up-dates on tender activity and referral of key issues
• Broking Managers - Assist with new business and defensive reviews and provide data necessary to obtain best possible terms
• Account Directors / Executives / Brokers - Co-ordinate with staff on new leads, proposals / tender reports and surveys delivering in accordance with the SLAs
• Claims Team - Co-ordinate with staff assigned on tender reports and ensure smooth handover of new business to servicing team
• External interface deliverables:
• Customers - liaise with clients on their requirements both current and future, and deliver in accordance with quoted work proposals
• Prospects - Regular contact to secure opportunity to quote and provide best possible terms
• Insurers - Negotiation of terms and conditions on tender cases in support of Broking Manager
• Others - Promote Risk Management Practice brand to whomever possible
• In addition, the role holder may be required to perform other duties assigned by their client, as required by the needs of the business
• Delivery in-house or client training as required
• Demonstrates innovative ideas based on Industry activities/trends and keeps abreast of industry best practice


Person Specification:
• For Risk Management Consultants to be involved in Health and Safety a minimum of the National Education Board of Safety and Health general certificate is required, preferably having attained CMIOSH status
• A member of the individuals speciality institute i.e. Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, International Institute of Risk and Safety Management, Institute of Risk Management, Business Continuity Institute, Institute of Environmental Management & Assessment
• Educated to degree standard or equivalent is desirable
• Thorough knowledge of the appropriate classes of business and business requirements with reference to appropriate experts when the cover or matter falls outside their own knowledge and experience or would benefit from specialist assistance
• Robust knowledge of general insurance (London Market / Lloyd's and Industry) products, services, classes of insurance including underlying legal principles and practices relating to risk within own role capacity
• Strong client facing relationship consulting experience
• Demonstrated rapport-building experience with internal/external stakeholders
• Tactical negotiation and influencing experience with internal/external stakeholders
• Able to quickly grasp and interpret salient information internal/external to maximise growth opportunities
• Relevant experience of risk management (including some but not all depending on role - Health & Safety, Business Continuity, Property, Fleet & Environmental risk management)
• Evidence of delivery of risk management services from a consultancy perspective
• A thorough understanding of the appropriate regulations and guidelines as applied to the type of client being dealt with
• Ability to transfer this knowledge on either a one: one or via a training sessions to clients / prospects / staff
• Excellent client focus, including the ability to manage potentially contentious interactions with varying negotiation strategies
• Good interpersonal skills, including listening, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the Company, including senior level management
• Good presentation skills with experience interacting and presenting to colleagues/senior management
• Problem-solving mind-set with the ability to develop creative approaches and solutions
• Ability to interact comfortably with colleagues/senior level management
• Forward planning approach
• Highly motivated and results focussed
• Highest degree of ethics and integrity in client focus
• MS office proficiency
• Eligible to work in the UK
• Ability to travel
