BI Developer

We are seeking an experienced BI Developer to work with one of our Public Sector clients. The role will be based in Sheffield and will offer an initial 5 month contract.

Overview of BI Developer Role

The role is to examine multiple raw data items establish the processing rules and current manual intervention. To apply cleansing and optimisation routines to deliver usable data in a consistent format, realising significant efficiencies in delivery time. Identify interdependencies in data and develop, code and apply multiple, contrasting mapping rules transform raw cleansed data into format required by current data models. Develop a system for loading transformed data into current data models. This will enable current process to operate in tandem with development, taking advantage if efficiencies to date. Engage with stakeholders and develop automate and optimise the current end-user report to be produced from the database/datastore stages. Develop and deliver effective skills transfer.

Key skills and experience for BI Developer Role

* Advanced Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) programming within Microsoft Excel 2010 with a strong focus on processing and movement of data.
* Intermediate/ advanced Microsoft Access experience including a strong understanding of general database theory including the creation of tables, indexes and queries (essential due to the volumes of data involved)
* A strong working knowledge and ability to write code using either Data Access Objects (DAO) or ActiveX Data Objects (ADO)
* (alternative to two points above) A strong working knowledge of SAP as a database solution with multiple mapping / rule scenarios. Platform choice is currently flexible.
* Experience of managing product development cycles from determining specifications through planning, iterative version control and user acceptance testing.
* Strong stakeholder engagement and communications skills.
* Delivery of time limited tasks within deadline.
