An exciting new opportunity for an Engineering and Facilities manager to join a leading company in the Hertfordshire area has become available. You will report to the Head of Engineering and Facilities as the Deputy Head of Engineering and facilities. As the Deputy Head of Engineering and Facilities you will be responsible for managing the day to day mechanical and electrical engineering and facilities management for the site.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Your duties as the Deputy Head of Engineering and Facilities will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. As the Deputy Head of Engineering and Facilities you will be responsible for the strategic and daily management of the site Facilities Management including building fabric, hard services (mechanical & electrical), soft services (waste, cleaning of controlled non-classified (CNC), Grade C and office areas, security, environmental, Health & Safety, landscaping, catering and other contracted services) and minor capital projects.

2. You will ensure the availability and reliability of building utilities, services and manufacturing equipment for the operational areas in order to achieve the future strategies and plans. This will be achieved through the alignment and provision of facility and engineering resource in accordance with the business plan.

3. As the Deputy Head of Engineering and Facilities you will be responsible for the establishment and maintenance of a GMP compliant calibration and planned preventative management (PPM) program for the site owned facilities and equipment, and to be the primary liaison with collaborators to coordinate PPM and calibration activities for collaborator owned equipment as required

4. You will manage the facilities management service team(s) including succession planning, appraisals, training, recruitment, performance and absence management to ensure all FM services are appropriately resourced to meet technical and business requirements. You will also manage and develop the annual Facilities operating budget ensuring that related spend is within the agreed budget.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Deputy Head of Engineering and Facilities we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant technical / engineering related degree, or an equivalent recognised professional technical qualification, with proven experience in a Facilities Leadership role managing complex building related issues while building and running a GMP Engineering / Facilities management team. Those with such experience in a phase III / commercial biologicals, vaccines, cell or gene therapies manufacturing facility within a large multifunctional site will take priority on application.

2. Proven industry experience in EU GMP requirements and practical experience is an essential requirement as well as detailed knowledge of Environmental and Health and Safety legislation within the pharmaceutical / biopharmaceutical industry and EU / MHRA / HTA / HFEA and FDA regulatory requirements.

3. As this is a leadership level role it is expected you will have a track record of successful personnel leadership, experience of motivating & developing teams, excellent people skills with the ability to interact with a wide range of customer and previous experience in managing contractor teams and staff.
