First Military Recruitment are currently recruiting for a Road Safety Barrier Technician on behalf of our client based in Sutton Coldfield. This is an excellent and exciting opportunity for an experienced Road Safety Barrier Technician to join one of the UK's leading highways construction companies.

Main objective:

To assist the VRS Asset Manager and VRS Schemes lead in scheme identification, development and delivery through the VM process. Assisting VRS team members in undertaking site investigations, assessment and RRRAP surveys. Providing support for responses to Watchman and HAIL issues and other queries. Assisting with site supervision of renewal schemes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
* Carrying out site investigations, drafting of site investigation briefs, visual condition surveys and works briefs.
* Assisting with asset inventory validation and updates.
* Undertaking RRRAP assessments and analysis.
* Assisting with the scheme development process including the development of scheme packs for the Value Management process.
* Assisting with HAIL, Watchman and 3rd party claims. Checking against sites where schemes have already been identified and drafting suitable responses.
* Assisting in development processes to address the needs of VRS schemes that fall outside the current Value Management guidance.
* Actively promoting Health and Safety in the workplace, setting a good example to other employees and ensuring awareness of and compliance with general Health and Safety responsibilities as set out in the Health and Safety Management System.
* Undertaking site visits and inspections as required.
* Performing other duties as may from time to time be reasonably required.

Skills and Qualifications:

* HND/HNC in Civil Engineering/Construction or equivalent qualification or relevant experience in management of highway assets;
* Experience in a highways/construction environment;
* Able to demonstrate a good knowledge of Microsoft Office and a proficiency in the development and use MS Excel/spreadsheets;
* Organised, committed and with a willingness to complete tasks;
* Good verbal communication and writing skills;
* Working knowledge of Highways England's HAPMS database;
* A full, valid driver's licence.

Desirable but not essential:

* Working knowledge of AutoCAD;
* Knowledge of DMRB, MCHW and IAM-IS;
* Sector 2B Accreditation.
