Expediter / Inspector BLUE42993

Our client is one of the largest privately owned suppliers of steel fabricated products in the UK.  Customers range from multi-national OEMs to small start-ups. 

Joining them as an Expediter, you must ensure that complex customer production requirements are communicated to (and organised) on the shop floor and that the parts subsequently produced are inspected as correct to specification and timely requirement.

They are responsible for the manufacture and assembly of chassis parts for customers.  Each chassis assembly is made up of a selection of standard manufactured or bought in parts, but the chassis could be made up of an infinite variety of these parts, therefore rendering each chassis assembly effectively bespoke.  The role of the Expediter will be to ensure that the selection of manufactured and bought in parts for each bespoke assembly is accurate and that they are produced and delivered in a Kanban arrangement to the customer.

You must also carry out inspections to ensure that the parts produced are in line with customer specification; completing PDI check sheets, rejecting parts which are not correct and instigating rectification in conjunction with the Quality Department.

Liaising with both Production Control and the customer where necessary to assist with the understanding of customer dynamic requirements, you will also be responsible for completing regular stock checks of all manufactured, bought in and assembled parts to ensure the correct inventory; attending customer and production meetings where required.

Candidates for this role should be highly organised and have an understanding of the importance and necessity of ensuring that only correct product is despatched.  With this in mind, you must be comfortable with the responsibility of rejecting any and all parts which are incorrect.  It goes without saying that you should be organised, with a good eye for detail and the ability to defend your decisions. 

Hours of work: 06.00 – 16.00 Monday to Thursday
