Role Profile



To support North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership to develop a range of creative and innovative approaches to engage with people and communities. To ensure meaningful engagement in the planning and delivery of person-centred, high quality health and care activities and to work with partners to improve outcomes for the people of North Ayrshire. 


Corporate Responsibilities

  • To manage/deliver the Service in accordance with the Council’s corporate policies and procedures and relevant strategy provision.

  • To manage/deliver the service outcomes, in the most efficient and effective way, that delivers the Council’s Strategic Priorities within the Council Plan and contributes to the production of Directorate Plans.
  • To manage and monitor Capital and Revenue budgets as assigned and contribute to budget development.
  • To lead, or contribute to, the preparation of cross-service business development plans, as required.
  • To ensure the effective management and leadership of employees, where appropriate.
  • To prepare and co-ordinate reports for the Council, its Committees or working parties and to attend these meetings as required.
  • To undertake any other reasonably required duties as instructed by Management or someone acting on their behalf, in addition to the role specific tasks & responsibilities detailed below.

Role Specific Tasks & Responsibilities

  • To work as a member of the Change and Improvement Service and with key partners in the planning and development of engagement approaches with localities and communities, which increase levels of community involvement, active citizenship and community leadership.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Partnership's Engagement Strategy and structure, including the implementation of effective planning, quality assurance and monitoring systems.
  • Engage with key stakeholders including people, service users, carers, staff, third sector, independent sector and other parties to ensure involvement in planning, design delivery and review of services.  
  • To increase the impact that the community has on planning and service delivery issues in the Partnership
  • To plan, coordinate and implement public facing engagement sessions which meet the needs of staff, people and community groups and individuals.
  • Manage the partnership programme of events in relation with the public coordinating the involvement of the Partnership Senior management team and wider stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Partnership and other stakeholders to co-ordinate all engagement activity and events to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach.

Education and Qualifications

  • SVQ 3 or HNC in social science,   social care, community development or community engagement  
  • Diploma/Professional qualification in community development or community engagement

  • Experience of working within communities in a wide variety of settings to achieve specific targets    
  • Experience of working with the most excluded groups in society to ensure their voices are heard

Specialist Knowledge

  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with people, services and communities
  • Knowledge of relevant evaluation tools
  • Understanding of the National Standards for Community Engagement
