City Year UK is a youth social action charity which challenges 18 to 25-year-olds to tackle educational inequality through a year of full-time voluntary service. As mentors, tutors and role models in schools, they support pupils growing up in some of the most disadvantaged communities in the UK.

Position: School Partnership Manager
Location: Manchester
Job type: full-time, permanent 
Salary: £33,300 - £36,000 per annum
Benefits: Employer pension contributions, 25 days holiday per year plus additional days after two years of employment, 3 grace days leave at Christmas break and a range of other great benefits.

About the Role: 

This is an exciting new role which has been developed as this ambitious organisation gears up to achieve its 2020 objectives of providing more teams of volunteers to serve in more schools and assist the progress of more children across a greater number of cities and local authorities.

The School Partnerships Manager will have a shared responsibility for increasing the profile and understanding of City Year UK across all aspects of the education sector, building upon progress and partnerships made to date. You will have more specific responsibility for the development of successful educational partnerships within schools, trusts and local authorities across the Greater Manchester region. You will maintain and strengthen relationships with existing school partnerships aiming to secure the highest possible rate of renewals as well as proactively seeking and acquiring new school and education partnership opportunities for City Year UK.

This role will be based in the City Year UK Greater Manchester office but you will be required to travel to other City Year UK sites as necessary.

About You: 

To succeed in this role you will have significant professional experience of working in the education system, specifically in schools, either at a middle or senior level, and possess qualifications that reflect this. A track record of success in the leadership and management of school improvement through pastoral or curriculum work is required. You should also have a keen interest in expanding young people's opportunities and skills through City Year UK’s programme.

You will have a sound understanding of current affairs in education, and be a strategic thinker who is able to forward plan and deliver results quickly. Excellent team-working and interpersonal skills are required, along with the ability to consider issues from a breadth of perspectives and to work effectively with a range of stakeholders. Experience in the training and development of staff and/or volunteers is also necessary.

In addition, you will have excellent written and oral communication skills. You will also be computer literate and have the ability to adapt to a range of systems, applications and databases. Demonstrable experience of managing a diverse workload and working under pressure is beneficial.
