Solicitor/Senior Paralegal - Negligence
The Role
We are seeking a technically able and commercially aware professional negligence solicitor/ FILEX equivalent to join our clients experienced specialist team which forms part of the civil litigation department. Experience of professional negligence claims is not essential for the candidate who has the right skills. The work is challenging but rewarding and the team places a high value on mutual support and co-operation.
Duties/Responsibilities
Reporting to the partner in charge of the professional negligence team and/or his senior associate, you will be running a caseload involving a variety of claims against solicitors, surveyors and other professionals. The team also handles misrepresentation claims arising from property acquisitions. Claims are largely funded by legal expenses insurance and you will be acting mainly for private individuals.
1 Complying with insurer clients' agreed service standards;
2 Fully utilising the firm's case management system;
3 Managing your own case load;
4 Billing.
Skills Required/Key competencies:
Essential:
1 Strong organisational skills with an ability to process large volumes of documents;
2 Pragmatic approach to solving problems;
3 Client focused approach;
4 Excellent forensic skills and attention to detail;
5 Excellent communication skills;
6 Ability and knowledge of working with a case management system.
Experience Required:
Essential:
1 Candidates with excellent all round civil/commercial litigation experience will be considered.
2 It is essential the successful candidate will have experience of handling his or her own
caseload.
Desirable:
1 Ideally candidates will have relevant/previous professional negligence experience and be familiar with the Pre Action protocol.
2 Experience of dealing with insurance funded clients is desirable.
Education Required:
1 Qualified Solicitor (LLB/ ILEX Route);
2 ILEX (Qualified to FILEX level);
OR 3. Equivalent experience
