Registered General Nurse

Location: Cleeve Hill Nursing Home

Salary: Negotiable

Reports to: Manager

Hours: 36 hours per week (variable shifts)

Responsible for: Promoting and restoring resident's health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with external multi agencies and internal colleagues; providing physical and psychological support to residents and supervising assigned team members.

Responsibilities -

* Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in resident's conditions
* Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records
* Record resident's medical information and vital signs
* Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess resident's condition
* Modify resident treatment plans as indicated by resident's responses and conditions
* Direct or supervise less-skilled nursing or healthcare personnel or supervise a particular unit
* Consult and coordinate with internal team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate resident care plans
* Monitor all aspects of resident care, including diet and physical activity
* Instruct individuals, families, or other groups on topics such as health education, disease prevention and develop health improvement programs
* Prepare resident's for and assist with examinations or treatments
* Identify resident's care requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual resident's and other persons in a position to understand care requirements

* Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to resident's, friends, and families
* Promote resident independence by establishing resident care goals; teaching resident's, friends, family and colleagues to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills; answering questions
* Assure quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards; measuring health outcomes against resident care goals and standards; making or recommending necessary adjustments; following hospital and nursing division's philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations (CQC)
* Resolve resident problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies
* Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; calling for assistance from health care support personnel
* Protect resident's and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations
* Maintain resident confidence and protect operations by keeping information confidential
* Ensure operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques
* Maintain nursing supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies; using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results
* Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
* Maintain a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
* Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
* Taking patient samples, pulses, temperatures and blood pressures
