An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Development Engineer to work at a leading manufacturing company within the semiconductor industry.

The successful candidate will:

- Specification and design of sub assemblies

- Cost reduction activities on existing common assemblies

- Design calculations in support of design (hand and FEA)

- Type testing of equipment and subsystems

- Reliability testing

- Report Writing

- Preparation of technical construction documents

- Creation of Bill of Materials

- Development of test specifications

- Components selection

- Design of components using CatiaV5 or Solidworks

- Engineering Change

An ideal Development Engineer will hold the following skills and experiences:

- Strong problem solving ability

- Experience of working on a system or equipment design / development environment preferred

- Ability to perform engineering calculations and basic FEA in support of the design.

- Understanding of piping and instrumentation diagrams and system schematics

- Experience of FMEA, HAZOP, DFMEA and other design and risk analysis techniques

- Experience in the type testing of equipment in support of design.

- Value engineering

- Hands on ability to build rigs and develop testing plans

- Knowledge of appropriate EN standard, MD, LVD, EN13849. EN14121

- Used to working in a multidisciplinary environment

- Attention to detail and right first time approach

- Good written and oral communication

- Ability to plan and estimate duration of their work in the context of larger projects

- Understand key project deliverable and requirements and have the ability to report concisely to the project leader

- Positive attitude and ability to work under pressure.

- CAD - Catia for 3D modelling and an element of design drafting would be very useful

- Knowledge of BS EN 8888 useful


- Good Chemical or Mechanically biased Engineering degree,

- Other engineering qualifications depending on experience


- At least 3-5 years experience within a multidisciplinary engineering environment

- Experience working on international projects would be an advantage

Functional Competencies:

- Ability to solve problems both in-house and on customers' site

- Ability to design and develop all aspects of the product range with particular emphasis on combustor related integrated systems

- Building partnerships with other project team members and work streams, developing relationships within an international team context

- Focused on delivering to project milestones and timescales

- Commercial awareness

- Ability to create a product specification and manage a project to completion in an agreed timescale

- International travel is anticipated
