Senior Power Systems Design Engineer
EXPERIENCE
??? Minimum 6 years in industry since qualification undertaking design and development work.
??? Knowledge of, or experience in the following fields would be desirable:
o Power electronics for both low- and high-voltage mains systems including silicon MOSFETs and emerging technologies such as GaN.
o Motor inverter design including thermal and EMC considerations.
o Device selection and datasheet analysis in order to find an optimal part considering potentially conflicting constraints.
o Analogue circuit design (e.g. signal amplification/conditioning).
o Motor specification and analysis.
o Software design using high level languages such as C or C++ for embedded microcontrollers.
o Designs to meet internationally recognised approvals standards.
o Design for volume manufacture.
o Test automation / modelling using scripting languages such as python.
o CAD systems in particular DxDesigner/Pads.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
??? Ability to work as a member of a small team to tight time and cost targets is essential.
??? The candidate should have proven experience working in a research field, with knowledge of the scientific method of investigation.
??? The candidate should be self-motivated with good practical skills and thorough approach to her/his work.
??? The successful candidate will be required to liaise with both suppliers and customers which may in turn necessitate occasional travel.
??? A high level of interpersonal skills will be required
