Our client is a charity that provides a range of housing and support options for people with learning disabilities across Bristol. As a Senior Support Worker you will be a key member of our team, providing high standards of person-centered support and care to our service users. Through a creative and caring approach, you will build good relationships with both service users and their families, supporting service users in the planning of goals and in living as independently as possible. Both personal care and participation in activities are key tasks for the role, so energy and initiative is vital; experience however is not essential, providing you have a willingness to learn and the compassion and patience needed to support.

You will be part of a staff team providing support to adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs to live as independently as possible

Ensuring good communication within all levels of the staff team

Overseeing and organising the daily recording of information relating to service users

Identifying the service user's emotional, physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs and support individuals to make appropriate decisions for action in consultation with the Management team

Liaising with relatives, Care Managers and other professionals in consultation with the Manager

Ensuring that the agreed guidelines for each service user are followed in conjunction with the Management team

Assisting in maintaining a good standard of hygiene and tidiness, when required, to check all equipment including emergency and fire equipment and report any defects

Ensuring accurate recordings and reporting of all accidents and incidents that may occur involving service users and or staff and to record relevant information in the appropriate place

Preparing reports and participating in service user's reviews as required

Participating in staff meetings, contributing to the review of current working practices and future developments

Coordinating and monitoring the staff rotas and delegate, organise and find cover for overtime shifts and cover absence when required

Ideal candidates:

Will have 1+ years work experience in health and social care

Willing to undertake a DBS check or be currently registered to the update service

Ideally will have or working towards NVQ Health and Social Care Level 2

Willing to travel locally

Flexible

Friendly and approachable personality, adaptable to work in a variety of environments with a range of service users

Reliable, motivated and passionate

Must be a driver
