Due to the continued demand for their expertise and significant growth my client seeks a Lead Materials Engineer to join their growing team. In the role of Lead Materials Engineer you will supervise technical projects and provide technical and project leadership for major projects. You will play a key role in planning and delivering significant projects and in mentoring more junior colleagues.

The technical work undertaken in the group is varied but you are likely to be involved in the following:

Technical leadership of analysis projects
Technical oversight and review of the work of other staff
Shaping technical programmes in support of major enterprises
Analysis of materials test data to provide advice for component assessments
Development of constitutive models to describe complex material behaviour, e.g. creep, fatigue, stress-strain, fracture, visco-elasticity, EAC etc.
Finite element analysis of non-linear materials including implementation of constitutive models in a finite element environment.

Qualifications and Requirements

You will have a proven track record in technical leadership of materials engineering projects, with extensive experience in a relevant industry. In addition it is anticipated that you will have the following attributes:

Relevant degree in engineering, chemistry or materials science, PhD preferred
Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and assessment codes
Materials failure investigation and root cause analysis
Corrosion risk assessment and mitigation strategies
Good interpersonal and client-facing skills
Excellent technical report writing experience
Knowledge of state-of-the art tools and processes in the UK Oil & Gas sector
Ability to influence technical programme development to our clients' benefit through in-depth knowledge and experience.
