Due to the expansion of our water team, Mott MacDonald are looking for a Geomorphologist to be based in our Bristol team, and work on the technical delivery of key projects in the South West, Wales and throughout the UK. The candidate will have the opportunity to work alongside an experienced and multi-disciplinary team, working with a variety of clients from the Environment Agency, to local authorities, Network Rail, power providers and private sector developers.

Job description

We are seeking a Geomorphologist to work within the Buildings and Infrastructure Unit. The candidate will report directly to the Associate in the Bristol office. The role will be challenging, demanding, varied and offer fantastic opportunities for skill set and career development. As a Geomorphologist the key elements of the role include:

* Carry out assessments of compliance with EU Water Framework Directive.
* Provide geomorphological advice to input to risk registers and assist design.
* Assist in preparing business plans for flood resilience schemes. Prepare design calculations and reports
* Project management of river or coastal protection schemes.
* Involvement with stakeholder and client engagement.
* Responsibility for mentoring and managing junior staff.

Candidate specification

The successful candidate will need to have:

* Relevant BSc/BEng and Masters in relevant subject, to include significant geomorphological input.
* Proven expertise in fluvial geomorphology, including a wide experience of a range of river types and ideally coastal geomorphology.
* Chartered with a relevant institution.
* Experience working with and/or on Environment Agency projects
* Experience in the use of modelling packages and GIS (MapInfo).
* Good communication and written skills
