We are seeking a skilled Theatre Practitioner to perform a dual role as a Scrub Practitioner and Training Lead within our clients busy theatre department in Cheltenham.

Part of the role (0.6WTE) will be to provide scrub and first assistant skills across a wide range of specialties, including some or all of, the following orthopaedics, general surgery, gynaecology, ophthalmology and cosmetic surgery.

The other part (0.4WTE) will be as a Clinical Training Lead within the department to provide 1:1 scrub training to new or existing staff to support them in developing their skills across different specialties.

The successful candidate will have experience as a Senior Theatre Practitioner and will be able to demonstrate a wide range of theatre experience. You will be an excellent communicator and team player. You will also possess excellent organisation skills and will be able to effectively manage your own workload whilst also providing the necessary training/mentoring support to other members of theatre staff.

Scrub Practitioner/Clinical Lead Role:
To be an effective role model who is able to skilfully demonstrate a wide breadth of clinical expertise.
To promote and facilitate the professional development of the nursing and support staff within Theatre, including 1:1 support of more junior colleagues to develop their scrub skills and expertise.
To keep abreast of current evidence based practice and ensure this is incorporated into the delivery of excellence in theatre clinical care
To contribute to the development of clinical guidelines within the department
To work closely with the Theatre Manager to ensure that all new clinical/support staff are appropriately inducted and orientated.
To assist in the management of learning resources including mandatory training and online resources
