A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Supplier Quality Engineer with our client, a leading designer of Hydraulic Systems based in Somerset. It is an immediate start on a fixed term 2 year contract basis.
Job Role
The Supplier Quality Engineer will work at the core of the value streams, coordinating and driving best practice, problem solving in reactive work relating to Supplier Quality complaints. You will ensure preventative activities are developed and drive down Supplier RPPM with a goal of zero defects.
You will ensure Suppliers are responding to 8D's in timely fashion and corrective / preventative actions are robust and validated to continually improve the supply base to ensure best quality products are being delivered
Supplier Quality Engineer Main Duties
* Resolve supplier quality issues with robust, sustainable problem resolution.
* Progress 8D and A3 investigations on key business quality issues with the supply base.
* Monitor and take appropriate action to supplier quality KPIs.
* Active involvement in continuous improvement programs both internally and with the supply base.
* Involvement in APQP activities including PFMEA / Control plans as output of 8D's.
* Develop and improve the standard of products being received and drive cost and quality improvement opportunities.
Planning
* Annual COPQ and RPPM reduction programs
* Support the Supplier Development Engineers in the APQP / PPAP process
* Daily reactive activities for non-conforming products supplied to the value streams
* External auditing of process / product
* Timely updates within the POL system relative to supplier RPPM performance
* 8D closure and investigations with the supply base and the reporting of KPI's
Person Specific Requirements
* Preferred minimum HNC in engineering, quality or supply chain relative discipline or equivalent relevant experience
* Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in manufacturing engineering / quality with supplier engagement and interaction
* Experience of 8D problem solving (inc Fishbone, 5why, Is/Is not etc)
* Lean Manufacturing awareness
* Experienced in the use of 6 Sigma tools and techniques
* Self-motivated and organised, the individual must demonstrate a high level of process discipline requiring minimal supervision
