My exclusive client are seeking a Structured Cabling Engineer to join their existing team on a Contractual basis. The role is based within a busy Data Centre environment, so an Engineer with a working knowledge of critical environments and direct DC exposure will be necessary to hit the ground running.

* This is a SHIFT based role, engineers working on a 4 ON / 4 OFF shift pattern (subject to business requirements) *

Role & Responsibilities

- Carry out patching duties - to servers and switches/ports
- Manage all aspects of Data Centre cabling
- Involvement with Moves & Changes - carry out project duties as directed
- Physical hardware installation for all set up devices
- Removal of hardware devices
- Maintenance/repair/diagnosis of kit
- Plan and manage work activities to ensure all is carried out in a safe manner in accordance with H&S
- Ability to use ticketing systems to respond to issues or duties
- Record, analyse, report and administer according to systems and requirements
- Carry out self-checking of site quality and compliance

Essential Experience

- Moves, Adds & Changes
- Extensive experience of working within a live environment (Data Centres)
- Good knowledge of Fibre/Copper cabling
- Cable testing techniques
- Rack & Stack
- Cisco networking platforms
- Resolution of problems logs/requests/project work, delivered to a high standard.
- Microsoft Office Applications
- Voice & Data
- Extensive knowledge of cabling standards and all associated activities
- Good communication skills including employees, contractors, suppliers and customers
- Self and time management skills
- Computer literate using MS Work, Excel and databases
- Understanding of Network Hardware and/or Cabling Standards
- MUST have a current driving license
