Software Engineer

Eaton Electrical Products is a global leader in solutions and technologies designed to save lives and protect property. They are found in the most demanding industrial, residential and commercial environments and offer fire and security detection, traditional and LED illumination, emergency notification, safe electrical installation and escape route communication.
This role is part of a R&D team engaged in the design and development of a range of products covering Eaton's portfolio of Security Control Systems, predominately panels and detecting devices. Working within a multi-disciplinary team delivering an ambitious New Product Development roadmap, the candidate must be capable of adhering to strict deadlines, controlled costs, performance goals and conformance to regulatory standards.
The successful candidate will have significant experience of software development deployed on electronic products or instrumentation. You will work on a variety of design projects and will be involved throughout the full product development life cycle. You will be responsible for reviewing requirements, design documentation and implementation in conformance with Eaton's best practices and capable of leading and following a structured project management methodology, based upon design gate achievement.
An appreciation of security control systems and the applicable regulatory standards environment would be a significant advantage.
Essential Functions:
??? Design and maintenance of embedded webserver software resident within alarm panels and associated products.
??? Design and maintenance of mobile application code.
??? Project Leadership activity on individual NPD projects, executing to timescales, budgets and working within Eaton project management processes.
??? Technical liaison with external suppliers/contractors/Eaton Pune to lead external product development.
??? Creation and maintenance of product documentation including product guides and operating instructions.
??? Creation and upkeep of technical documentation (FRS, software architecture, test metrics etc).
??? Ability to multi-task on a number of projects that are running concurrently.
??? Consults with superiors and equivalents appropriately and in a timely fashion to mitigate any issues.
Extensive experience of the following:
??? Javascript (angular.js)
??? Embedded C Development
??? TCP/IP, HTTPS, UDP
??? Embedded RTOS
??? REST Interface
??? HTML
??? XML
??? SSL Certificates
Desirable - experience of the following:
??? Keil MDK-ARM knowledge
??? Node.js
??? Grunt (task runner tool)
??? Scaffolding frameworks
??? wbxml
??? Strong "solution orientation" mindset
??? Ability to think holistically when planning projects, organizing and a ssigning tasks effectively
??? Technical documentation skills
??? Self-motivated, good verbal and written communication, good presentation skills
??? Results-oriented focus, Taking initiative and being proactive in nature
??? Able to communicate effectively at all levels, with excellent interpersonal and team working skills
