Senior FPGA Engineer - Gloucestershire, Tewkesbury - ??28,000 to 42,000 pa

This is an immediate requirement for an FPGA Engineer or Firmware Engineer with experience of working on complex FPGA design.

A great opportunity has arisen for a FPGA Engineer to work for a leading Electronics design company in the Cheltenham area. This Firmware Engineer role will be working on a number of new programmes and products being developed for both the UK and international markets. My client is an cyber security expert who can offer you the opportunity to design FPGA's used to encrypt a range of IT Systems.



Responsibilities for this role

- Work alongside Principal & Senior Engineers to capture and analyse complex system requirements to provide robust and reliable technical solutions.
- Take responsibility for the complete implementation and release of detailed technical items and an understanding /appreciation of system level items.
- Generate supporting technical documentation of a sufficient standard as to be sent to external customers.
- Collaborate with other team members (including engineers in other disciplines) to agree system designs, interfaces and protocols etc.
- Devise appropriate test procedures, both informal and formal, to verify the correct operation of design solutions, and to perform bench tests for regression analysis.
- Provide project schedule estimates and technical risk identification
- Provide progress and technical updates to the project manager
- Prepare material for, and contribute to design reviews Interview prospective employees
- Work consistently towards vocational targets as planned via the Personal Development Review (PDR) scheme.
- Conduct themselves as a role model for other departmental Engineers.

Requirements for this role

- Degree qualified in electronics/engineering related subject (preferably at 2.1 hons or higher) , however experience will be considered in lieu of formal academic qualifications
- Excellent design standards and strong debug skills
- The ability to read and understand specifications and protocols
- Proficient in writing concise documentation for requirements; design, interface and test specifications
- Understanding and appreciation of underlying digital hardware
- Experience of tool chains and version control systems
- Design, development and implementation of FPGA development using VHDL
- Experience in writing firmware to coding guidelines with knowledge of testing and documentation processes.
- Significant experience of developing self-checking testbenches, BFMs
- Experienced in achieving timing closure on FPGAs


Due to the nature of the work at this site, applicants must be capable of achieving SC level UK security clearance. Current clearance is not a requirement.
