Registered General Nurse (RGN) - Care Home - Taunton, Somerset

We are recruiting for permanent RGN in a medium sized care home based in Taunton, Somerset. This role is on a full time Day Shift basis.

Responsibilities:

* Working in a 24 bed service care home as part of a team of Nurses and Assistants
* To provide all necessary support to people living at the service enabling them to live an active and fulfilled life, whilst promoting a happy and friendly environment, incorporating the care homes ethos, set within the companies aims and objectives, company policies and procedures whilst adhering to CQC regulations, legislations and guidelines.
* Ensure all nursing practices are evidence based and reflect current trends.
* Work with the Deputy Manager / Head of Care, Home Manager and other trained nurses in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating quality nursing care.
* Supervising and training care assistants and ensuring the full and professional delivery of care to the residents.
* You will need up to date evidence based clinical knowledge in relation to client groups cared for within the home
* Able to communicate at appropriate levels with all residents, relatives, staff, other professionals and outside agencies involved in the care of the residents
* You will be committed to expanding your expertise and professional development
* Good Understanding of the role and function of the care home, the Care Act 2014 and the Fundamental Standards to adhere to as laid down by the CQC
* You will be an effective team leader and role model
* Be fully conversant with NMC Code of Practice -
* NMC Code of Conducts (March 2015)
* Complaining about professional misconduct
* Scope of Professional Practice
* Standards for Administration of Medicines
* Standards for Records and Record Keeping
* Confidentiality
* Exercising Accountability
* You will have a good understanding of Mental Capacity in regards to "choice". Have a good understanding the Mental Capacity Act (MCA 2005) and where Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) needs to be in place.

What you need:

* Qualified RGN / RMN - Registered on the NMC
* Current valid NMC Pin No.
* Successful DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service)
* Evidence of PREP hours
* References upon successful application
* Demonstrable experience in a residential home/nursing home as an RGN dealing with elderly patients
* Knowledge of current practice in relation to older people
* Excellent communication skills
* An interest in developing professionally
* Show evidence of developing effective leadership and organisational qualities including knowledge of communication skills required to effectively manage staff and others resources
* Ability to function during emergencies giving reassurance whilst ensuring confidence and setting an example to staff
* Ability to supervise staff
