Assistant Teacher for an Outdoor Curriculum Required - REF LFB352841
ITN Mark Education is working with a unique SEN school on the outskirts of Bristol who are looking for an Assistant Teacher to start as soon as possible for a permanent, full time contract.
The School is a residential school caters for students who have Severe and Multiple Learning Difficulties. They use a holistic approach to learning. The school aims to provide a safe environment, to promote quality education to individual students enabling them to progress with development in Emotional, Social and Behavioural needs. This is an innovative school with staff willing to do whatever it takes to change students' lives.
The role will involve:
- Providing an outdoor education to students
- Working closely with the Class Teacher to deliver lessons effectively
- Monitoring attendance and punctuality of students
- Taking on the learning mentor role for students with BESD
- Supervision of the Learning Support Assistants
- Implementing an effective and personalised behaviour management system.
- Supporting students in preparing for and taking part in social interactions, including school trips and special events.
- Helping students to build day-to-day relationships with peers and teachers.
- Promoting a calm atmosphere around students within all aspects of the school day
- There will be an aspect of Personal Care.
The ideal Assistant Teacher will:
- Diploma or related qualification in Education
- Bush craft skills or Forest School Experience are desirable
- Have experience at least 2 years of Teaching experience in SEN schools
- Confidence to meet difficult situations and approach such situations with a calm and mature way.
- Have a helpful, positive, calm and caring nature.
- Have a genuine passion and belief in the potential of every student.
- Full Driving Licence
- Pecs or Team Teach are very beneficial in this role.
