Our client has an exciting new opportunity for a Logistics and Purchasing Manager.
THE ROLE:
The successful candidate will be responsible for the logistics and purchasing function. This will include; ensuring adequate processes and procedures are in place throughout all areas of the factory.
Enforcing accurate and efficient recording of all factory transactions.
Ensuring adequate stock holdings are always available. Arranging the logistical function to effectively organise,distribute and produce the correct stock. Ensuring the team of yard and stores operatives are working to the best of their ability and fully train, manage and motivate your team. To procure all materials to support the business in a timely and cost effective manner. Excellent negotiation skills are required to ensure best value for the purchase of supplies, equipment and services. You will enjoy challenging, problem solving roles and be ideally suited to a fast paced environment. The candidate should have good interpersonal skills and possess the ability to multi-task.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
:Managing the logistics process to ensure best practice and cost effectiveness
:Management of consumable purchasing,seeking out best value pricing and negotiating terms and conditions.
:Provide team leadership and management to a small team
:Carry out administrative tasks to support the job function and maintain appropriate filing of records and information.
:Carry out stock taking in accordance with company programme
:Monitor and report on use of key consumables
:Experience of lean manufacturing desirable.
PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE:
:The ideal candidate will ideally demonstrate a background in logistics and purchasing in the red meat processing industry to enable them to have a detailed knowledge of the processes and products.
:Excellent management skills are essential for this role.
:Strong,effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
:Good admin and IT skills (Excel Spreadsheets)
:Able to motivate and lead a team.
:Knowledge of transport legislation and the WTD.
:The ability to remain focused whilst in a challenging environment.
:Ideally will possess a HGV 1 licence.
:The candidate must be a good decision maker and able to remain calm under pressure.
