Head/Lead/Team Leader of Delievery - hands on - SDLC - Management

Role Summary

We are looking for a highly-motivated, experienced Head of Delivery to be based in Bristol reporting to the Group Head of Application Development. The role will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of product development working with the product management team.

This role will lead the onshore, offshore and third party resource planning, owning the skills matrix, people management, release management and supplier management to ensure delivery can proceed and to ensure the products are supported and maintained after product deployment.

This role will also be responsible for the application and infrastructure support of the development products & environments, working closely with the System Architect(s) and any outsourced supplier teams.

This role is key to the planning ahead for the 6 to 12 month delivery cycle and to support the current 3 to 6 month delivery by facilitating all delivery and transition to go product deployment activities.

This role will require occasional travel between JLT's offices in the UK and International offices, and will suit an individual with a passion for all aspects of product delivery.

Key responsibilities:

* A member of the senior management team within the Business Systems - Employee Benefits function manage all people and material resources across concurrent projects
* Co-ordinate development activities across delivery teams and match expectations for cost, quality, reliability and time to market
* Manage the planning, delivery, communication and control activities and ensure effective utilisation of internal and external resources to deliver the product release plan
* Ensure all completed user stories meet the required quality criteria and chair gateway meetings throughout the development lifecycle to assess potential risk(s) and make informed decisions
* Make sure work activities are undertaken in line with central guidelines and to the required standards
* Report progress against key performance indicators (cost, content, quality, etc.)
* Improve the quality of our software deliveries
* Keep up-to-date with industry best practice
* Task management of ~50 IT specialists covering both internal and external resource and line management of ~5 direct reports
* Management of 3rd party suppliers
* Ensure project and delivery resources are aligned to successful project delivery
* Planning product releases across the multiple teams
* Ensuring build and configuration management is fit for purpose
* Work with the teams to ensure successful transition of product to the client or production
* Responsible for development support of existing products to agreed service levels
* Third party supplier contract management, including service reviews
* Third party supplier management on a day to day basis with the relevant teams
* Reviewing working procedures of all onshore/offshore and third party teams to ensure that standard working practices are adopted and used
* Working with the business project managers in identification and resolution of any project issues and risks regarding the development programme
* Part of the delivery team responsible for timely delivery of quality products and software releases
* Liaison with key stakeholders (client/operational) on the release of new software
* Coordination of people management activities
* Coordination of release management and sign off for releases to go to clients/into production
* Hardware and software planning for the department
* Key member of the development governance group
* Manages operational costs and budget reporting
* Ensures all source and deliverables are actively retained in correct repositories
* Supports the development of personnel and ensure competency and ongoing improvement for all staff including identifying and resolving single point sensitivity issues

Additional Details

Prior Experience:

* Managing the successful delivery of a portfolio of product backlogs / roadmaps / projects / programmes including transition to production
* Past experience in financial services software will be an advantage
* Experience working in a fast-paced development environment
* BSc/MSc in Computer Science or similar preferred
