Senior Engineer - 3 month contract - Bristol

Role description / task:
* Completion of drawing suite and design suite updates for the JB-III (Batch I) WHLS, ensuring the design information is maintained and updated in-line with developments from manufacture of the WHLS in overseas locations.
* Incorporate any customer driven design changes or new requirements into the JB-III design suite.
* Operator as checker for equivalent design team member's work.
* Support the JB-III systems teams with any drafting needs that arise for qualification or verification activity
Required Experience /Qualification /Attributes:
* Extensive Knowledge in designing and drafting submarine or maritime components
* Suitably qualified and experienced at check signing for others
* The customer and supplier are working at pace and so timely completion of work to the right level of quality is essential.
* Able to interpret and quickly implement and check others works in regards to implementation NCR's/CR's and other engineering changes into design packages
* Able to work autonomously or as part of a team to turn around drawings in an efficient manner
* Familiarity with Submarine Weapon Handling and Launch Systems an advantage
* Familiar with Team centre and NX is required
Key Responsibilities
* Develop the plan for batching Successor Standards such that guidance documentation can be generated;
* Generate standards guidance documentation pertaining to Systems Team owned standards;
* Facilitate generation of standards guidance documentation pertaining to Product Team owned standards;
* Work with the Systems Team to ensure all Systems Team owned standards have a compliance statement generated for use within the Successor Systems Team Requirements Management tool;
* Use Teamcenter PLM and Systems Team engineering expertise to ensure standards guidance is stored and documented in a user friendly manner within the Successor Systems Team project tree. Key Deliverables:
* A database/spreadsheet of all relevant contractual Successor standards and their applicable team owners;
* A logical document structure within the Teamcenter PLM Successor project tree that allows storage and modification of standards guidance documentation;
* An update to the Successor requirements compliance to include statements for each of the relevant contractual standards;
* A set of usable standards guidance documentation that can be used to assist in compliant design work for the Successor contract.
Experience /Qualification /Attributes
* HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
* Candidates without this qualification will be considered, if they can demonstrate considerable relevant experience within Engineering design or submarine systems.
* Good, broad, mechanical engineering knowledge.
* Good understanding of engineering standards and how they are structured.
* Demonstrate logical and pragmatic problem solving abilities.
* Good communication skills both oral and written.
* Conversant with Microsoft Office packages
