Land a role where you can make a difference.
The Government Legal Department is a place to practice like no other. As the largest provider of legal services across government, we work across unique and high profile cases of unrivalled variety. From roads to rivers, and health to human rights, our work touches on most aspects of public life. This is your chance to make a lasting difference as you act in the public good.
Join our Ministry of Defence Legal Advisers team, and you will provide property advice to the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO). You’ll build on your skills as you undertake a large volume of transactional property-related work for the third largest landowner in the UK. Your varied and interesting role will see you overseeing the sales and purchase of freehold and leasehold property as well as granting and taking commercial leases, easements and occupational licences. You’ll also deal with a wide variety of ad hoc estate management and property law issues.
To succeed, you will be a qualified lawyer with particular experience in property law, conveyancing and transactional matters. We are looking for a highly motivated, intellectually capable individual with strong communication skills, good self-awareness and a commitment to using feedback to learn and develop as a professional. A good understanding of the role of lawyers in government will be essential. Your reliable legal judgement and sound analysis skills will be matched by the ability to think strategically and creatively, seeing legal issues in their wider context.
The post holder will be required to undergo security clearance to SC level.
