LOCATION: Jedburgh, Scottish Borders

JOB TITLE: Accounts Assistant

SALARY & BENEFITS: Competitive dependent on experience plus company pension scheme, a minimum 28 days annual holiday and the chance to grow into a role with a Global organisation

WORKING HOURS: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 8.30am to 5pm

THE COMPANY: Our client is the global leader producing Plastic Garment Hangers for the major High Street fashion retailers and the supermarket sector and are one of Britain's leading manufacturers, employing around 500 people in the UK on sites in Jedburgh and Wrexham. Our client based in Jedburgh in the beautiful Scottish Borders employs around 250 people and manufacture around 100 million hangers per annum and are currently looking for a reliable and dedicated Accounts Assistant to join our clients existing friendly finance department in Jedburgh, Scottish Borders.

THE ROLE: As an Accounts Assistant you will be responsible for reporting directly to the Financial Controller. You will be primarily responsible for assisting the Finance team in the production of weekly, month-end and year-end statutory accounts as well as dealing with reconciliation's of Bank Accounts, General Ledger accounts, and compiling reports. This is varied role where you will need to be flexible and assist with various ad hoc tasks as they arise.

Key Responsibilities for the Accounts Assistant role in Jedburgh, Scottish Boarders include:

- Assist the finance team in the production of weekly, month-end and year-end statutory accounts
- Responsible for the reconciliation of various General Ledger accounts, as well as reconciling several bank accounts
- Producing various reports monthly using Microsoft Excel and in house systems
- Helping the team to ensure that the company complies with all financial, statutory and regulatory requirements
- Various other ad hoc tasks such as answering the telephone and handling any queries and general admin tasks

THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate will ideally be flexible, adaptable and someone who can work effectively within a team. You must have an accountancy qualification to a minimum of HND level (or equivalent) and previous experience working in an Accounts or Finance related role is essential, as is good working knowledge of reconciliation's, banking, an understanding of accruals and prepayments and month-end reporting. Full in-house training and support will be given on an ongoing basis but you must have experience using Microsoft Excel and Outlook. Although not essential a valid UK driving licence would be beneficial.

Key Experience/ Characteristics preferred for the Accounts Assistant's role in Jedburgh, Scottish Borders :-

- Must have an accountancy qualification to a minimum of HND level (or equivalent)
- Previous experience working in an Accounts or Finance related role is essential
- Must have good working knowledge of reconciliation's, banking, an understanding of accruals and prepayments and month-end reporting
- Must have experience using Microsoft Excel
