Would you consider your teaching to be rarely less than good, and often outstanding? Would you like to work at a school that strives for these standards, and trains teachers to ask questions that probe and deepen students' understanding? If the answer to these questions is yes, and you have an enthusiastic approach to teaching Science with high professional standards, then this post is for you!

Randstad Education is a market leader in the field of education recruitment, and here at the Preston office we are working on behalf of a large secondary school in the Burnley area. The school has a reputation for high attainment and GCSE results, particularly in the STEM subjects, are well above the national average.

The school is looking for a full time teacher of Science, for two terms from January 2017. The post offers opportunities to teach throughout the age and ability ranges, to pupils who have an excellent attitude to learning. The ability to teach a Science specialism up to and including Key Stage 4. The position would suit an NQT, and would give the successful candidate an opportunity to take a full and active role in the life of the school.

The successful candidate will:

*be an outstanding and innovative classroom practitioner who can lead and enthuse students
*have a proven track record of impacting on student achievement and the development of the department
*have excellent organisational and communication skills, with an eye for detail
*exude a passion for learning and a driving ambition for every learner to progress
*have a sense of humour and the ability to keep a smile on your face at all times

The school can offer:

*excellent facilities including interactive white boards in every classroom
*a family ethos with dynamic and supportive staff
*a diverse learning cohort that appreciate the effort staff make for them, leading to rewarding outcomes
*an aim to enhance the life chances and opportunities afforded to its young people

The headteacher at the school, supported by the governors and an able and talented senior team, offers strong leadership that has ensured high standards are maintained. The progress students make has improved steadily for several years. Teachers are trained to ensure marking is thorough, frequent, and rigorous, with effective systems in place to identify underachievement. Swift actions are taken to help students catch up, and as a result of widely excellent teaching and encouraging 1:1 support, the gaps in attainment are closed, particularly between disadvantaged students and others.

If you believe you have the skills and drive to help make a difference at this school then we would love to hear from you. Please feel free to contact us at Randstad Education Preston, where we can discuss this and other exciting opportunities in the Education sector.
