About us: Founded in 1994 by mother and son team Helena and Paul Jeffery, Caring Homes Group has grown to become one of the most highly respected independent care and support providers in the United Kingdom. We are looking for a Head Chef to join our exciting new acquisition, The Whittington Nursing Home, based in Cheltenham. We are looking for Head Chef who has experience of producing creative, high quality new recipes from fresh, local produce and has the ability to cater to complex dietary needs. Duties and Responsibilities The preparation and cooking of all meals covering breakfast, lunch and supper to excellent high standards and quality.The production and revision of menus within agreed cycle for core menu and A la Carte menu, and approved budget, taking into account personal preferences of service users.The ordering of foods and supplies necessary to perform the above functions efficiently within agreed budgetary limits.The maintenance of stock control system for all catering supplies and equipment.The maintenance of a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen area to meet statutory regulation.The supervision and instruction of other catering staff in the performance of their duties, to manage the department.To keep up to date with changing practices in catering, and to inform the manager of these and advise on necessary developments.To be responsible for all catering working practices and the efficient functioning of the main kitchen and floor serveries.To be responsible for health and safety procedures and policies within the kitchen and service areas.Avoid unnecessary wastage and deterioration of all foodstuffs.To ensure that all staff use safe methods of cleaning or operating specific equipment.To carry out administration as necessary, including roster and annual leave planning to ensure adequate cover for the department, and monitor hours worked by staff.Responsible to be involved in the care plan (food likes/dislike, diets) of residents within the first week of arrivalTo continue to meet and communicate with residents on regular basis - include meet the chef meetings.To oversee and instruct members of staff on the presentation of the dining rooms ensuring high standards of presentation.To attend meetings at request of managerTo carry out any reasonable tasks as requested by manager. Essential: To deliver a high standard of catering services to our service users within budget.To pay particular attention to the Fire, Health, Safety and Hygiene regulations.To comply with all company policy issues, procedures and guidelines.To ensure correct uniform and personal hygiene is of the highest standard at all times.To participate in company training to improve standards and performance.To provide Quality and high standards of cuisine to the service users.To complete any other duties as required/requested by the Home Manager.To work in compliance with C.O.S.H.H regulations.
