We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Functional Skills Tutor working for a regional training provider home based covering the Worcester / Gloucester regions working on a fixed term maternity cover contract (9 months). The main purpose is to assist the SEN Coordinator with targeted activity to ensure the needs of learners with special educational needs (SEN) are met and that these learners make good or outstanding progress. The role also involves developing skills of Vocational Trainers to ensure all learners are fully supported with qualification achievement. Key responsibilities: To undertake specialist diagnostics, where applicable, to ensure SEN is accurately identified.To undertake development of operational employees to ensure they have the requisite skills and knowledge to support SEN learners.To provide support for SEN learners where this cannot be delivered by operational employees.To provide support and/or training for Vocational Trainers in the one or more of the following areas: ??Functional skills-mathematics, English, ICT Learner support needs such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, visual impairmentTo assist in sourcing appropriate resources and systems that facilitate achievement of SEN learnersTo maintain accurate, up to date records of all learner SEN activities to ensure SEN support can be evidenced during SFA audit and Ofsted inspectionTo support the achievement of the company targeted rate of functional skills. Key duties: To undertake SEN diagnostic assessments where applicable.To evaluate outcomes of diagnostic assessments and develop personalised support plan for each learner.To ensure that special measures are in place for SEN learners completing tests.To provide training and/or support for operational employees to improve SEN support skills.To assist operational employees working with SEN learners and agree personalised learner development plans with the Vocational Trainer/SEN Co-ordinator.To manage a small caseload of SEN learners to ensure they have the appropriate support to complete all qualifications.To ensure the quality of teaching, learning and assessment of SEN learners is, as a minimum, good.To ensure that SEN referral processes are adhered to.To ensure there are a wide range of resources to support learners with special educational needs.To assist in the development of online learning materials to support SEN learners.To ensure all SEN learners receive regular support.To produce periodic performance reports, as directed by your line manager Undertake projects, initiatives and any other duties as directed by your line managerContribute to the annual self-assessment report for SEN provision To develop and progress actions included within the Quality Improvement PlanEnsure adherence to funding body, inspectorate and awarding body procedures Maintain and develop internal and external communicationsContribute to sustainability and becoming a global citizenEnsure that colleagues and learners are safeguarded against all types of bullying or abuseAdhere to my clients equality and diversity policy in all aspects of work life Requirements: Working knowledge of supporting SEN learners - desirableA minimum of 12 months teaching experienceOutstanding organisational skills and a sound attention to detailOutstanding teaching skills ??Outstanding literacy and numeracy skillsGood IT skillsGood written and verbal communication skillsSEN Support qualification at level 4 or higher - desirableFunctional Skills English, mathematics and ICT Benefits: Bonus SchemeMileage .45 paid from home or nearest centreSalary ??18,000 - ??20,000
