Maintenance Technician
Hams Hall, Birmingham
£Competitive Plus Excellent Benefits

2016 is a particularly exciting time to be working at BMW Hams Hall. With the introduction of new manufacturing facilities, we are now seeking to recruit a number of Maintenance Technicians on both a permanent basis and for two year fixed term contracts.

BMW Plant Hams Hall is an integral part of BMW Group's global engine production network, manufacturing fuel efficient, low emission engines for BMW and MINI vehicles sold around the world. As part of a large investment programme, we have installed brand-new facilities to enable the production of future generation engines.

If you are an analytical engineering professional with knowledge of both mechanical and electrical systems, this is an exceptional opportunity to join a world-renowned automotive business in our pursuit of perfection.

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for supporting the production of BMW’s new generation of three and four cylinder engines.

Working as part of one of our first level Maintenance Repair Teams, you will provide proactive and preventative maintenance and fast response recovery.

Each day you will face new challenges, working with leading-edge technologies in the world’s most flexible machining system.

You will strive to minimise downtime by challenging and enhancing the way things are done, analysing breakdowns and implementing changes to drive efficiency and reliability on the production line.

This role is not for the faint hearted, but there are exciting progression opportunities on offer for those with potential. You will have the chance to exponentially increase your expertise, work with the industry’s best and carve out a rewarding career with a world-leader in automotive innovation.

To be considered for this superb opportunity, you must have:

- Experience with continuous processing, high level automation and software control
- Previous experience gained within a high pressure environment, such as automotive, pharmaceutical, FMCG or packaging
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, ideally with experience of working with and fault-finding in both
- An understanding, and ideally experience, of using PLC, CNC, Siemens Controls, Profinet and Windows-based software
- A high level of IT literacy with excellent MS Excel skills and experience of data systems
- The ability to perform root cause analysis or 5Ys on breakdown analysis

As a Maintenance Technician, you will be a determined self-starter with an inquisitive mindset. You will thrive in fast-paced environments and enjoy problem-solving and identifying new ways to innovate.

Please note, these roles operate on a shift pattern, working either weekend nights, weekend days or a three rotating shift pattern.
