One YMCA is currently working in conjunction with Three Rivers District Council (TRDC), recruiting for an experienced and knowledgeable Community Activities Coordinator to join our Abbots Langley site team. This is a new role, created in order to oversee some exciting community projects YMCA is currently embarking on in and around the local area with the support of TRDC; which calls for a creative individual to come on board and hit the ground running with regards to fresh ideas and the practical running of Community Activities in and around Leavesden Country Park.

Main Duties:

  • To achieve the KPI targets for the “Community Activity Programme” in partnership with the local Council
  • To organise, publicise and play a lead role in the delivery of an engaging local programme of activities, working with YMCA colleagues and partner agencies
  • To adhere to YMCA policies and procedures to ensure the health & safety and safeguarding of staff, volunteers and service users engaged in the programme
  • To collate, monitor and report on outcomes achieved by the Programme, remaining within YMCA data protection protocols

Key Skills & Experience:
  • Experience of delivering successful community activities in a relevant field or scenario
  • Relevant practical training or accreditation in youth work, sports activities, event management, or work with older people
  • Knowledge and experience of publicity, marketing and promotion, including digital and offline channels
  • Experience of building community cohesion in a local area
  • Experience of partnership work across the voluntary sector
  • Understanding of working in partnership with Local Authorities
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience of managing volunteers in a relevant environment
  • Experience of working with risk assessments
  • Experience of monitoring and evaluating programmes’ effectiveness
  • Experience of coordinating/carrying out consultations
  • First Aid at Work Qualification or willing to acquire
  • Child Protection/Safeguarding knowledge or willing to acquire
  • Access to and ability to drive a motor vehicle between sites
  • Desirable – (Minibus) driving licence D1

£18,552 per annum (FTE Circa £23K) Flexible 30 hours per week and benefits of:
