DIRECTOR OF THE PRESS
The University of Wales is seeking to appoint a new Director for the University of Wales Press in Cardiff and is looking for an experienced publishing professional with the vision and energy to lead Wales' foremost academic publisher.
The post holder will head up a small senior management team and will be crucial in leading the Press to achieve its strategic and business objectives.
The Director holds primary responsibility for the running of the University of Wales Press (UWP). In co-operation with the UWP subcommittee the Director is responsible for creating the vision for UWP as the national academic Press for Wales and with the support of the senior management team upholds and furthers UWP’s mission, values and goals.
With the support of the Finance & Operations Manager the Director is responsible for financial and operational strategies and the policies and plans for future innovative development. The Director works closely with the senior management team to ensure that the aims, objectives and targets of the business are met efficiently and effectively.
This is an exciting opportunity for a talented and ambitious publishing executive wishing to cooperate closely with the newly merged university to achieve the Press' strategic and business objectives.
The ability to speak Welsh is an important consideration. However the willingness to learn Welsh within 2 years to a fluent level is essential. This will be supported by the University.
Salary is negotiable, but the salary for this post is circa £60,000. The post is a permanent post with flexible working arrangements.
