New opportunity not to be missed! ABI Support Services has an exciting opportunity for a Support Worker to join the team based in Milton Keynes. Joining us on a full time permament basis, you will receive a rate of £7.50 per hour

As our Support Worker, you will provide high quality support to people based upon their needs and wishes and on company values and standards and which reflects:

Key responsibilities of the Support Worker

- To assist with the development of Person Centred Plans for people (or other forms of planning relating to people with a learning disability) and to implement the elements of the plan as a member of the staff team

- To act as a key worker for individual people where appropriate

- To support people in their daily living and personal care (if required) based upon the Active Support Approach

- To support people in undertaking activities or development in their own home and in the community, including employment, education and other opportunities

- To maintain records as required relating to people's lives, service and individual financial affairs

- To assist with the drawing up of risk assessments relating to individuals and the service in order to protect the health, safety and welfare of all staff and service users and to implement and contribute to the review of these

- To liaise with external parties, carers and parents as required

- To refer to appropriate managers or contact the On Call Manager (out of hours) in the event that managerial advice is essential to deal with an immediate situation

- To undertake any other duties commensurate with the general level of responsibility of the job

Skills, knowledge and experience required by the Support Worker

- GCSE (or equivalent) standard of education (Desirable)

- Relevant qualification, e.g. NVQ 2, LDAF (Desirable)

- Experience/contact with people with learning disabilities or mental health problems which may have been gained at work, as a volunteer, through personal contact

- Ability to communicate effectively and support people with learning difficulties or mental health problems in line with their personal plan and company standards

- A working knowledge of Person Centred Planning, Supported Living, “Valuing People” and challenging behaviour

- Ability to apply the principles of equal opportunities in support work

- Ability to record information appropriately in writing

- To have a general awareness of health & safety issues

- A minimum of one year's driving experience and a full driving licence

- A commitment to encouraging service user participation within the service
