Due to consistent year on year growth over recent years and the opening or our new specialist dementia care centre last year, Fairways Care Limited are looking to recruit a commercially aware Financial Controller to lead and manage a small finance team responsible for all accounting and financial operations within the business. Reporting directly to the director, the Financial Controller is responsible for the day to day accounting and financial reporting of the UK based limited company. The ability to multi-task and prioritise individual deliverables is essential for success in this role. As a demonstrated leader and team-player, you will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Most importantly, you will bring honesty and integrity to the role, as well as a strong work ethic and professional disposition.

Job Description:

Responsibilities of this role will include:

    • Develop strong working relationships with stakeholders and become the finance support for the business.
    • Develop and oversee accounting procedures and internal controls
    • Lead, manage and develop the existing finance team
    • Identify process deficiencies, and develop and implement new procedures as required
    • Produce management and statutory accounts timely
    • Maintain company balance sheet and perform monthly reconciliations
    • Oversee General Accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll
    • Manage year-end process including preparation of year-end files
    • Financial analysis, budget variance reviews, and written commentaries on monthly results
    • Liaise with external partners including the bank and auditors
    • Participate in special projects and compiles ad-hoc analysis as required

Required Skills

The ideal candidate has solid accounting experience, strong business acumen and team leadership skills, along with:

    • 5+ years of progressive, full cycle accounting experience
    • Passion for understanding how financial reporting can assist in driving operational improvements
    • Strong drive and accountability for results
    • Excellent interpersonal, management and organizational skills
    • Strong understanding of statutory requirements
    • Possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to articulate recommendations in a concise and timely manner
    • Strategic thinker and aggressive implementer
    • Exceptional work ethic and attention to detail
    • Computer literacy requirements: Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Sage Accounts, Sage Payroll
