An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Production Engineer to join Corin based in Cirencester, Gloucestershire.

As a Production Engineer your duties and responsibilities will be:

  • New Product Introduction - process development and a robust and complete transfer of the product to manufacturing via offline programming of CNC machines via Siemens NX – this will require close liaison with Manufacturing and Product Development departments (the list below also applies to the maintenance and support of products)
  • Manufacturing documentation, including Process Sheets & Inspection Sheets
  • Producing Procedures & Work Instructions
  • Assist in the training of manufacturing personnel
  • Specifying and develop all fixtures, gauging and software
  • Specify machine set-up programmes
  • CNC programming via CAM and code
  • Perform process validation & computer systems validation (if appropriate) including process characterisation, optimisation & capability studies as required
  •  
  • Lean Manufacturing - analyse production processes and propose / implement improvements to reduce lead time, reduce cost, improve efficiency along with DFM and DFA input
  • Liaising with suppliers on technical issues
  • Assist with CAPA / NCR investigations to improve efficiency of manufacturing processes by analysing non- conforming product issues, proposing and supporting countermeasures
  • Supervise or perform production prototyping and initial production runs
  • Investigate and develop new manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Resolving technical issues within the Manufacturing Department
  • To ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with the Company and legislative requirements for Health & Safety
  • Undertake any other projects as directed by the Senior Production Engineer

An ideal Production Engineer will have the following:

 Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

  • Engineering qualification; preferably time served apprenticeship
  • Expertise in using a variety of manual and CNC tools
  • CAM (Specifically Siemens NX Unigraphics and Edgecam are desirable)
  • Wire erosion
  • Assembly and Fitting
  • Process validation
  • Lean manufacturing
  • Manufacturing engineering
  • Compiling and using process FMEA’s
  • Statistical analysis
  • Project and time management
  • CAD – tool / gauge / jig / fixture design
  • Manual and CMM inspection
  • Application of machine tool probing systems
  • PC literacy, including specific knowledge of Microsoft products
  • Medical devices manufacturing (desirable)
  • Orthopaedics manufacturing (desirable)
  • Process engineering (desirable)
  • Safety critical applications (desirable)
