Carpenter with Multi-Trade Skills - Main Purpose of Job:

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will carry out refurbishments and general maintenance work to domestic & commercial properties and various schemes on behalf of ProTech Property Solutions in the following trade disciplines:

• Reactive Maintenance
• Planned Maintenance
• Painting and Decorating an advantage
• Carpentry
• Roofing and Brickwork an advantage
• All associated maintenance duties advantageous
• WET TRADES ALSO IDEAL: tiling, rendering, plastering etc

To ensure that all refurbishments and associated repair works are carried out in the correct time frame and are to the correct standard and quality.

Multi Trade Engineer with Carpentry Skills - Principle Responsibilities:

• To ensure that all customer properties are maintained to the highest possible standards
• To ensure that all works are completed within the target times set
• To provide exceptional levels of customer service
• To carry out refurbishment works of all customer properties in accordance with current Building Regulations and Health & Safety Legislation
• To use/ wear and apply all PPE appropriate to the works being undertaken
• Undertake necessary training for your role when required
• To attend and participate in regular 1-1 performance reviews
• To attend tool box talks associated to the department covering relevant Health & Safety regulations, COSHH data and any relevant updates
• Report any accidents, incidents or near misses to ensure that all are recorded in a timely manner and that procedures are followed
• Must be physically fit as manual lifting is required

Carpenter with Multi-Trade Skills - General Specifications of Work:

• To carry out reactive maintenance works to various types of properties both domestic and commercial to include all associated Carpentry works as required
• To carry out repair and improvements in carpentry and other associated trade discipline work as qualified to properties as directed
• Measure and mark the areas of work in accordance with the plans of layout and design
• General re-pointing to brickwork 
• To carry out Painting and Decorating duties to both occupied and unoccupied properties. This will include both internal and external areas.
• General roofing repairs if able
• Experience of general UPVC maintenance duties, i.e. frame replacement, window boards, replacement windows, replacement external doors, replacement handle, latches and locks, replacement door frames
• Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by your line manager

Carpenter with Multi-Trade Skills - Person Specification:

Professional/ Education Requirements:

• Ideally educated to GCSE or equivalent levels to include English and Math’s
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in carpentry, refurbishment and general maintenance works

Level of Qualification:

• Completion of a recognised apprenticeship in a similar related field and must have a minimum of NVQ or its equivalent i.e. relevant City & Guilds Certificate
• Conversant with the building regulations

Other Attributes, Abilities, Requirements:


• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
• Full driving licence
• Commitment to customer service to both internal and external customers
• Ability to take ownership of issues/ problems and personally sees them through to delivery
• Organised approach to work, able to manage your time effectively and efficiently
• Must possess a full, well-maintained tool kit suitable for the trades at all times
• Ability to identify any related Asbestos containing materials and report and act within guidelines within the company policy
• Basic knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
• Minimum 5 years’ experience within a Multi Trade discipline
• Experience of all relevant associated Multi Trade duties in particular as detailed above
• Understanding the customers both internally and externally & work towards driving impeccable service
• Health & Safety awareness and training to the required CITB industry standard


• Experience of working alone or as part of a team
• First aid qualification
• Good geographical knowledge
• PASMA trained/ qualified

• Manual handling
• Ladder Safety
• Asbestos awareness
• Working with Risk Assessments & Method Statements
• Hot Works Permits
• Working at Height
• Abrasive wheels
• Electrical/ gas Awareness

• please note - this is a mobile position and there will be a lot of travelling

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week 8-5pm Monday - Friday
