Linux Web Hosting Systems Administrator

A leading UK provider of Magento hosting solutions is looking for an additional Linux expert to join their growing team and manage their hosting infrastructure.

They provide premium, fast and reliable web hosting services to clients all over the UK, backed with best-in-class customer service. They need an exceptional individual with the know-how to assist in the continuous development of their linux based hosting products, as well as work on new innovative hosting products that will drive their company forward.

Job Description
As one of the Systems team within the Hosting department you'll help turn new ideas into real products. You'll add client value to web hosting plans, using your tech expertise to improve hosting speeds & reliability for customers. These could be joint or individual projects, so a flexible team player who's also efficient working alone will really thrive in this role.

You'll also be keeping our infrastructure secure and well-maintained on a daily basis, and there's plenty of variety to give you a really rewarding role. Your responsibilities will include the administration of client-facing servers, AWS servers/clusters and internal systems, as well as planning maintenance and update periods. We'll also need you to maintain consistent helpful documentation, perform hardware maintenance and provision servers in our data centre - and to help the Support team resolve any client security issues and escalated issues.

Because their systems run 24/7, this role does involve an element of working during unsociable hours. This will vary from scheduled maintenance and emergency requirements to being part of the On Call rota - responding to server alerts and emergency support requests whenever they come up.

The successful candidate will have:

- Relevant work experience and/or qualifications
- Fantastic attention to detail
- Good knowledge of the Linux Operating System
- Knowledge of Apache & PHP, MySQL and email servers, and how these are configured in a Linux environment
- Knowledge of web hosting control panels such as Parallels Plesk or Cpanel
- Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
- Proven self-research skills and the ability to work independently under your own initiative, as well as part of a small cohesive team
- Productive multitasking skills & time management, with the ability to prioritise work appropriately
- A mature, efficient approach to systems-related problem solving
- A team player who's happy to drop into systems & procedures and work hard within the Systems team framework, answering to the systems lead & hosting manager
- Knowledge of networking
- Enthusiasm and a bright, can-do attitude
