They are now looking for a Learner Support Assistant to join them at their Harrogate campus where you will provide a high quality and confidential customer-focussed support service to students with additional learner support needs. This is a permanent part time position, working 28 hours per week, term time only (36 weeks per year).
Within the role you will work closely with the wider student services department to ensure the service meets the needs of students. Key responsibilities include drawing up plans for students, enabling them to study independently and achieve their learning goals. Working alongside Learning Support Advisors, you will provide support in and out of a managed classroom environment, including some areas of personal assistance.
They are looking for someone who ideally has GCSE English & Maths at Grade C or equivalent, and who has a Level 2 in IT or equivalent qualification (Word Processing, Word or Excel). With an understanding of the additional learning support needs of students, and the ability to work calmly under pressure, you will have a confident, approachable and friendly disposition with strong interpersonal skills.
Previous experience of working with students with additional learner support needs is desirable but not essential. What is key is that you can access and navigate confidently around ICT systems, and are able work effectively both independently and as a member of a team.
