Transport Mechanic - Letchworth, GBP25k-GBP28k depending on experience plus O/T

Summary:

As a credible member of the Transport Services team you will: Be part of the team which maintains services and repairs the fleet. You will work in a professional environment and support the team and the wider business in keeping the fleet in the best possible condition through the highest standards of maintenance.
Description:

As a Transport Fitter you will:

Ensure that the fleet is maintained in line with MOT / VOSA / BMS requirements Support the performance of the team by working in a professional and efficient way.

Ensure that all aspects of vehicle and plant maintenance are completed, including paperwork and job card / record keeping Support the team in achieving safety, performance and budget targets Respond to customer requests and requirements as necessary.

Principal Accountabilities:

Carry out the routine servicing of vehicles in line with manufacturers standards Repair and maintain vehicles and plant in a safe and roadworthy condition and in line with MOT / VOSA standards Schedule planned work to suit customer requirements and ensure workshop efficiency Organise annual / periodic statutory testing Purchase all materials from agreed suppliers Maintain all workshop records in accordance with procedures Carry out repairs and servicing to industry standard times Assist in achieving business plan targets Carry out all work in accordance with the company's Health And Safety policy and systems.

Looking For:

Minimum 3 years' experience with advanced diagnostics, both electronic and mechanical High level of mechanical repair skill Good current technical knowledge of modern vehicles and systems Good problem solving skills - able to work outside of a prescribed diagnostic process. Able to manage own workload NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds Level 3 in Motor Vehicle or Heavy Goods Vehicle Technology with a minimum of 5 years post apprenticeship experience Full driving licence Categories C and E are preferable. A good knowledge of health and safety requirements in vehicle maintenance The ability to work on your own initiative, to plan and organise workloads and to complete all necessary documentation.
