My client are a leading specialist, award-winning tour operator who create inspirational school trip programmes. They have been operating for over 30 years and have continued to grow and develop their business.

As the Marketing Manager, your primary role will be to oversee and coordinate all online and offline marketing activities within the department. Working closely with the department's Director you will be responsible for managing and implementing a marketing and communications strategy to increase retention, recommendations and acquisition across all channels. You will also be involved in the implementation and management of a CRM system. You will have budget responsibility and will be expected to achieve targets and demonstrate success against ROI.
This job description is designed to give you an understanding of what is expected from you in this role as well as how the position relates to the rest of the company.

Duties and Responsibilities

General:
• Work closely with the department's Director and Product Managers, share ideas and learnings and ensure a cohesive approach to our marketing across all channels.
• Work closely with the Marketing Department to ensure effective planning and use of resources.
• Assist with the effective planning and delegation of work to others within the company.
• Ensure that you are aware of the company's business aims and targets.
• Maintain extremely high standards in respect of customer service.
• Ensure that all of your marketing activities cohere to the marketing plan, are within budget and are continuously monitored with reports on ROI.
• Ensure that the marketing communications plan is always accurate and activities are delivered on time

Specific:

Digital
• You will have responsibility for co-ordinating our on-going email marketing.
• You will agree on the data segmentation and targeting of each campaign, ensuring our e-newsletters are sent to the most relevant audience, with an appropriate and engaging subject line.
• Maintaining, updating and expanding content on our website using the CMS. Working with the Product Managers, you will need to ensure that content is up to date, accurate and engaging, and that all site copy is well written and appropriately optimised for both search engines and visitors.
• Review and implement PPC & SEO requirements working in collaboration with our FIT marketing team
• Monitor and analyse our website performance and perform a regular customer acquisition analysis using Google Analytics to help drive traffic and sales
• Oversee the editorial calendar ensuring that content is in line with the communication plan

Social
• The day to day implementation and management of our social media campaigns are overseen by the Copywriter/Marketing Executive. However, you will also be responsible for ensuring all social media plans are in line with the overall product communication plan and marketing strategy objectives
• Ensure that the Social Media planner is in line with the communication plan and that posts are scheduled and published
• Ensure that the social media channels are driving traffic to the website and that there is high engagement with our channels

Brochures, Direct Mail & Client Documentation
• Oversee the production of all printed customer communications and documentation, ensuring that there is always a consistent approach. When working with third parties, you will need to ensure that they meet our brand standards and they are produced within budget and to agreed deadlines.
• Manage our customer contacts database ensuring accuracy and regular cleansing and profiling.
• Work with the IT team to assist in the implementation and management of our CRM system.

Advertising
• Oversee advertising, review opportunities and brief relevant agencies. Ensure that we are receiving best rates possible on both creative and space.
• Ensure that the creative and the placement meet our objectives and that appropriate campaign tracking is set up and checked.
• Monitor and report on enquiries/bookings and return on investment (ROI) for each ad/campaign. Conduct an annual review on our advertising activity and overall ROI.

Events & Exhibitions
• Working with the Area Managers, oversee our presence at exhibitions and events for all products including the stand design, marketing opportunities, administration of exhibitor requirements, logistics of staffing and set up and breakdown. .
• Monitor the need for new/additional branded clothing, bags and display material.
• Where required, provide support to the Education team for their events.

Partnership campaigns & Promotions
• Work together with the Director in the development, implementation and coordination of partnership campaigns.
• Coordinate and assist in creating the end of campaign ROI reports/presentations.

Reporting
• Measure every aspect of the effectiveness of your marketing activities and demonstrate the impact all key marketing activities have on generating traffic to the website and qualified sales leads.
• Quantify how campaigns deliver value

Overall Business Responsibilities
• Be aware of company/departmental sales and marketing strategies.
• Help to create a cost effective, pro-active and supportive marketing department.

• Be aware of your own progress regarding personal targets, and successful achievement or more of these targets

Skills/Experience Required

Essential
• Experience in a Marketing Manager position
• Excellent knowledge and experience of digital marketing, direct marketing, CRM, customer recruitment and retention.
• Educated to degree level or equivalent marketing qualification
• Excellent copy writing skills, a strong attention to detail and creative flair
• Sound organisation skills and flexibility, with experience of managing multiple work streams
• Excellent English communication skills (written - including copywriting and verbal)
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to thrive on working in a pressurised environment and to strict deadlines
• Strong customer service skills
• Proven ability to mentor and supervise staff

Preferred (will enhance performance in the position)
• Experience of marketing to education establishments
• Experience of working in an SME
• Experience of working in a B2B marketing role
