Our client, a centre of excellence for hybrid vehicle technologies is currently recruiting for a Principal Engineer to support the Chassis team for the migration of Chassis engineering projects from the UK to China for a range of zero emissions ready vehicles based out of their facility in either Coventry or Basildon.
Essential skills:
• To assist the Chief Engineer to ensure the timely delivery of chassis system design and engineering
activities from concept to production.
• To lead the transfer of system knowledge and design practices between the Chinese Manufacturer and the UK based OEM.
• To support the development and delivery of chassis systems content including technical leadership of
agreed project deliverables within the China based team.
• To undertake release reviews and approvals to defined engineering criteria.
• To support the development of mechanical design work and calculations for Chassis structures,
suspensions, axles and braking systems.
• Review and direct as applicable CAD packaging, concepts and detailing for the integration of chassis
components to existing and concept vehicle platforms.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Proven ability within an automotive engineering background, a number of years of experience of
successfully delivering projects in an OEM or Tier 1 capacity having supervised teams of engineers.
• A high standard of automotive technical knowledge of chassis and vehicle systems including significant
proven ability of one of the key areas from brakes, steering, suspension or subframe systems.
• Ability to plan and deliver projects within budget and within the scoped time.
• Possession of an Automotive or similar honours engineering degree. Other recognised engineering qualifications combined with relevant significant experience will be considered.
• Capable of making autonomous decisions, travel to China intermittently when required and be culturally sensitive.
• No visa or other restrictions for working in the UK or travelling in the European Union.
