The Design Manager will ensure design requests from the R&D team are resourced either by the Ocado design team or outsourced to an appropriate supplier or partner.
This role will create the capability within Ocado to internalise the design of its core products. You will streamline the design process and formally review designs at critical milestones to ensure product quality; including review of both internal and outsourced designs. In addition you will grow the Ocado supplier base of designers, contractors , fabricators and manufacturers.
We are looking for someone with previous experience in a similar role as a design manager in one or all of the key design functions of mechanical, electrical, electronic or structural engineering. You will have expertise in de risking, modelling, simulation and prototyping and a familiarity with a systems engineering approach.
