Our client is looking for a talented, enthusiastic and motivated Product Design Manager to head up the design department that supplies lighting and homeware products to some of the largest retailers in the UK and Ireland.
This is a dynamic and varied role that will undoubtedly keep you busy. As a smaller company there is much more of a role to play in its shaping and with the sort of products/designs the company decide to capitalise on. You will be responsible for a junior product administrator as well as filling in specs, product data collation etc. as well as design and ultimately running the department efficiently and effectively. You will also be required to produce trend forecasts, mood boards and colour palettes which form the core of our clients` in-house ranges. You will need proven experience within product development, a `hands-on` approach with a great eye for design and excellent attention to detail. This really is a fabulous opportunity for someone who is looking for the freedom to really make their mark in a small but busy lighting and homewares business.
Main duties to include:
-Design and development of lighting, storage, furniture, kid`s products and the in-house ranges that complement our clients current lines
-Interpreting customer briefs and producing designs to suit the customer`s profile
-Produce clear product specifications including red/gold seal samples sign off
-Working closely with colleagues and external agencies to produce the in-house catalogue including design, product data collation and photo shoot layouts
-Creating and amending artwork and product assembly instructions
-Liaising with their Far East office and suppliers in order to ensure products are manufactured to relevant standards
-Visit Europe and the Far East on design and development trips
-Attend customer meetings and present ideas in a confident and professional manner
We are looking for:
-Experience managing a design team (in order to hit the ground running)
-Trade background (lighting or homewares experience essential)
-Ability to manage a small team
-Self-motivated and customer focussed
-Customer account management skills
-Excellent communication skills
-Mac literate to high standard (with strong Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and In Design skills)
-Competent using MS office
In return you can expect:
-Salary: GBP30k (flex)
-Hours: Mon-Thu 8.15-4.45 and 8.30-2.30 Fri
-Holidays: 20 days (rising to 25 with service) plus Bank Holidays
-A bonus scheme, free parking, childcare vouchers, staff discount, flex working considered
